PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device in which a 1st holding member such as a ferrule holding an optical component such as an optical fiber is prevented from tilting, and its assembling method. SOLUTION: In a single-fiber collimator 2, when the ferrule 11 holding the optical fiber 5 is pressed into an insertion hole 13 of the sleeve 12 and arranged at a specified position, the ferrule 11 is clamped by the sleeve 12 having been plastically deformed and held. Therefore, when the ferrule 11 and sleeve 12 are joined by various methods such as welding and bonding, the ferrule 11 holding the optical fiber 5 can be prevented from tilting.
