PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-emulsifying aqueous polyurethane resin excellent in admixture stability with an anionic material, adhesion to a substrate, printing density and water resistance. SOLUTION: The self-emulsifying aqueous polyerethane resin is the one in which an aqueous polyurethane resin, which has functional groups consisting of a carboxy group and/or a sulfonyl group and a functional group having a cationic nature simultaneously in the same molecule, any of the functional groups being chemically bound in the molecule through covalent bonds, is dispersed in water into the form of particulates and stabilized.
