IMPROVEMENTS TO ILLUMINATED TRAFFIC BOLLARDS

The invention relates to a traffic bollard assembly comprising a body portion (3) for engaging a base portion (2) for securing permanently to ground, the body portion (3) having a display means for displaying information, characterised in that the display means comprises a frame (4) mounted on one side of the body portion (3) wherein a detachable holder (13) is inserted in the frame (4) for holding the display information. One of the advantages of the present invention is that the frame (4) provides a secure means for displaying information on detachable holder (13) or in the frame (4) which can be easily maintained and installed and can not be removed by anyone unless authorised to do so. Additionally the base portion (2) engages the body portion (3) using a securing means (22) such that only the body portion becomes detached when the securing means (22) moves in one direction only. The advantage of the securing means (22) is that when the bollard assembly is struck with sufficient force, for example by a vehicle, the body portion (3) detaches from the base portion (2) minirnising any damage caused to the bollard assembly.
