The hydraulic selector valve (1) includes a slide (3) axially movable in a housing (2) and with at least two axially opposed pressurized effective areas (A1, A2) which are identically dimensioned for pressure compensation. A second supply pressure (PV2) acts permanently on the first of the two effective areas (A1), and an auxiliary solenoid valve (18) connects the second of the two effective areas (A2) to the second supply pressure. The operating force of the selector valve on the third effective area and the force produced by the second supply pressure on the second effective area act axially in the same direction against a spring force (FF) acting on the slide.
