Determining coded output data sequence in dependence on input data sequence, by determining each path metrics as function of values of respective supplementary data sequence

Input data sequence ak and feedback signal u(kT) from a precoding filter (4) are added up (1). T is a duration of the data symbol interval. So obtained output signal is passed on to a further adder (2) where it is added to a supplementary value dk, which has a form 2n. Thus obtained output data symbol y(kT) is fed both to the feedback filter (4) and to a transmission filter (3). The clock frequency at the output of the transmission filter (3) is increased, e.g. through interpolation. Path metrics of supplementary data sequence is calculated in an evaluation unit (5). Independent claims are also included for the coded output data sequence determination system and a transmitter including it.
