<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which reduces the load on toner to keep a degradation in the toner to a minimum, thereby can form high quality images over a prolonged period of time and can provide even a color image inexpensively. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a rotating cylindrical photoreceptor drum 1; a toner hopper which has an opening facing to the photoreceptor drum 1 on which an electrostatic latent image has been formed and stores a nonmagnetic monocomponent toner 5; a cylindrical electrode roller 6 which is located opposite to the photoreceptor drum 1 to which the toner 5 has been supplied while keeping a prescribed gap, and the surface of which moves in a direction reverse to the moving direction of the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 in the position opposite to the photoreceptor drum 1; a removing means to remove the toner 5 from the surface of the electrode roller 6 after passing through the opposite position; and an electrode power source 10 for applying DC voltage superposed on AC voltage to the electrode roller 6. The gap between the photoreceptor drum 1 and the electrode roller 6 is made larger than the thickness of a toner layer on the photoreceptor drum 1 required to obtain a prescribed density. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
