<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of garbage disposal by compressing garbage from an upper part thereof to solve problems that a garbage container is rapidly filled with the garbage up to an opening thereof because the garbage is bulky and that it is insanitary to push the garbage with the hand for the purpose of reduction of the volume of the garbage. <P>SOLUTION: Lids of the garbage container are divided into an outer peripheral lid and a drop lid. An elastic case including an elastic material is provided at symmetric positions on both ends of the inside of the outer peripheral lid, in a bottom direction of the inside of the garbage container. The elastic material case is provided with a guide groove, and a drop lid rotary shaft provided at both ends of the drop lid is inserted in the guide groove. The drop lid rotary shaft projecting on both ends of the drop lid raises the drop lid along the guide groove by the action of the elastic material. The drop lid is heightened at its center and formed into a chevron shape so that the drop lid can be horizontally balanced, and is pulled up by the elastic material.
