<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square battery having a structure with high sealing capability and high electrolyte leakage resistance in spite of using a relatively thin battery case, and to provide a manufacturing method capable of appropriately manufacturing the square battery in high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: An insulating gasket 13 is inserted into an enlarged opening part 2 formed on the opening side of a bottomed square cylindrical battery case 1, supported by using the lower end of the enlarged opening part 2 as a supporting ledge part 3, a sealing body 9 is supported on the inside of the insulating gasket 13, an upper connecting plate 14 arranged in the upper position of the insulating gasket 13 is put across a pair of long side plate parts 1a at least facing each other in the enlarged opening part 2 and connected to the battery case 1, and the insulating gasket 13 is compressed by an opening shrinkage work of the enlarged opening part 2 to seal a part between the internal surface of the opening part and a peripheral part of the sealing body 9. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
