PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device which makes a contribution to a reduction of a device cost while assuring good workability of preliminary operation prior to shipping and maintenance work after shipping. SOLUTION: The developing device is equipped with: a developing roller 60 for supplying toner to a photoreceptor drum 111 from a facing surface S1 facing the peripheral surface of the photoreceptor drum 111; and a toner scattering preventive cover 70 covering an adjoining surface S2 situated above the facing surface S1 of the developing roller 60. The toner scattering preventive cover 70 is freely rotationally and pivotally supported around a shaft body 71 attitude changeably between a covering attitude covering the adjoining surface S2 and an open attitude opening the adjoining surface S2. The shaft body 71 is provided with an eccentric cam 74 to cause the shaft body to maintain the open attitude in the state that the shaft body is set in the open attitude. The eccentric cam 74 is adapted such that the open attitude of the toner scattering preventive cover 70 is maintained by the reaction force from a housing body 22 due to the elastic deformation of the shaft body 71 of the toner scattering preventive cover 70 caused while the toner scattering preventive cover 70 is held set at the open attitude.
