PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of improving drainability when the tire is new and improving acceleration, brake performance and maneuvering stability on a dry road surface without replacing the tire by increasing actual grounding area of the tire and the road surface according to the state of the road surface when the road surface begins to dry. SOLUTION: A plurality of lateral main grooves 14 inclined from a grounding end 12E in a tire peripheral direction are provided on both sides of tire equatorial plane of a tread 12. A zigzag center main groove 26 is formed at the center of the tread 12 by connecting a tire equatorial plane side end part of the lateral main groove 14 on one side in relation to the tire equatorial plane to a longitudinal direction intermediate part of the lateral main groove 14 on the other side in relation to a tire equatorial plane and connecting a tire equatorial plane side end part of the lateral main groove 14 on the other side to a longitudinal direction intermediate part of the lateral main groove 14 on the one side. A chamfering part 28 which does not reach a groove bottom of the lateral main groove 14 is formed at a block edge part facing to the zigzag center main groove 26.
