PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both the separability of a transfer material from an intermediate transfer body and the capability of cleaning an intermediate transfer body in such a structure that secondary transfer residual toner on the intermediate transfer body is cleared away by bringing the plate-like blade into contact with a secondary transfer opposite roller via the intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: The position where the plate-like blade is in contact with the secondary transfer opposite roller is 50°or more downstream in the rotating direction of the intermediate transfer body around the secondary transfer opposite roller from the position where the secondary transfer roller is in contact with the secondary transfer opposite roller. The relation of the outside diameter R of the secondary transfer opposite roller with the outside diameter r of the secondary transfer roller is 3r≥R≥ϕ20. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
