PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for aligning a sheet of a recording material. SOLUTION: The sheet of the recording material is fed along a sheet guide 6 for determining at least a partially curved transport passage until the forefront edge of the sheet comes into contact with a first pin of at least two aligning pins 7a and 7b for determining an aligning line, and a feed of the sheet is continued until the forefront edge contacts with the second aligning pin, to thereby allow a change in a distance of the transport passage of the sheet.
