Method and apparatus for providing server local SMBIOS table through out-of-band communication

A system and method is disclosed to utilize a Multiplexing Agent (MPA) and SMBIOS subagent (SBA) that run on a server to access the SMBIOS table locally. A remote out-of-band (OOB) application sends a request message to the IPMI Receive Message Queue (RMQ) buffer in the firmware. The MPA periodically retrieves from the buffer, examine, and deliver to SBA. Then SBA returns the SMBIOS information to the remote OOB SMS directly.
