Production of flat glass comprises feeding molten glass (1) onto a tin bath (3) to form a flat glass strip (7) in a furnace (9) under a reducing atmosphere, cooling to a removal temperature, lifting the glass strip from the bath, tempering at the removal temperature under a reducing or inert atmosphere for at least 1 second and removing from the furnace. An independent claim is also included for a device for producing the flat glass.
