949,802. Fuel cells. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G., and VARTA A.G. June 28, 1961 [July 21, 1960], No. 23445/61. Heading H1B. Fuel cells are supplied with gaseous fuel and/ or oxygen by connecting the electrodes in series as respects the gas flow and purging the last electrode in accordance with the polarisation of the last said electrode. The potentials of the first and last cells in the gas series may be compared in order to determine the polarisation due to the gaseous impurities. As shown, relays R 1 , R 2 respond respectively to the presence of impurities in the fuel and the oxygen and operate purge valves V 1 , V 2 via magnets M 1 , M 2 . |
