PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover locking device for detecting an opening and closing state of a cover and a locked state of the cover with one detector, and to provide a washing machine provided with the cover locking device. SOLUTION: The cover locking device comprises a body case 2, an electromagnetic plunger device 3, a locking member 5 enabling locking of the cover provided on the device and unlocking of the locking, and a driven mechanism 6 interlocked with reciprocation of a plunger member 3B of the electromagnetic plunger device 3 and for reciprocating the locking member 5. In order to retract one end of the locking member 5 from an opening 2A of the body case 2 by reciprocation of the plunger member 3B, the problem to be solved can be solved by providing the cover locking device with a winding coil for changing inductance by opening and closing of the cover provided on the device and reciprocation of the plunger member 3B, and the detector 7 for detecting the opening and closing state of the cover, and the state of locking of the cover and unlocking of the locking.
