PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for shaping a bag package capable of shaping, from a rectangular-bottomed gusset bag package, a rectangular parallelopiped bag package with all of six surfaces flat including not only the rectangular bottom and four side faces but also the upper part of the bag package. SOLUTION: The rectangular-bottomed gusset package 1 including a product packaged in a bag with gussets folded and upper and lower parts end-sealed is put in a shaping mold having regulation surfaces for the rectangular bottom and side faces. The upper end seal 4 and its vicinity 6 of the bag are preheated by a preheating member 10. The preheated upper end seal 4 is fallen toward the vicinity 6 by a keeping member 17, and also the package 1 is pressed by a keeping surface 18 of the keeping member 17 serving as the regulating surface to press the package 1 against the corresponding regulating surface of the shaping mold via the internal pressure of the bag, thereby shaping flat the six surfaces of the rectangular-bottomed gusset package 1.
