A laminated metal sheet for can lid excelling in appearance after retorting, which comprises a polyester film superimposed on a side constituting an external surface at the formation into a can lid, (a) the polyester film having an amorphous polyester layer provided in the vicinity of interface at which the polyester film is brought into contact with the metal sheet, the amorphous polyester layer consisting of a resin whose semicrystallization time is 40 sec or less at 130°C, (b) the amorphous polyester layer having a thickness of 0.5 to 8 mum, (c) the polyester film exhibiting a water vapor permeability of 100 g/m<2>/24hr or less. It is preferred that the resin of the amorphous polyester layer be a polyester composition containing polyester (I) whose main repeating unit is ethylene terephthalate and polyester (II) whose main repeating unit is butylene terephthalate.
