A honeycomb catalyst carrier (5) which has a cell structure (1) comprising a porous material and being formed into the form of a honeycomb having a plurality of cells and an outer wall (6) comprising a porous material and being arranged so as to cover the periphery of the cell structure (1), wherein an impregnated portion (1a) impregnated with a water-insoluble organic or inorganic material to be destructed by combustion is formed in the outermost portion having a predetermined thickness of the porous material constituting the cell structure (1).
