<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent power supply facilities from becoming large, relating to a storage controller and a method for controlling the storage controller. <P>SOLUTION: The storage controller includes a channel control part that receives input/output requests from an information processor; a disk control part that writes and reads data to and from a disk drive; a cache memory that stores data transferred between the channel control part and the disk control part; a first I/O control part with a connection that communicably connects the channel control part, the disk control part and the cache memory to one another; a second I/O control part that consumes approximately the same amount of current as the first I/O control part; a first power supply device that supplies power to the first I/O control part; a second power supply device that supplies power to the second I/O control part; and at least three circuit breakers each of which supplies the power supplied from the outside to the first and second power supply devices and stops the power supply if a current equal to or greater than a predetermined value flows.
