PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent projections from moving over restraining members, by increasing the rigidity of the faces to which the belt projections are attached or the rigidity of the belt near the roots of the faces. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, the movable endless belt for transferring an image on the image carrier onto a transfer material, projections provided at the end part in a direction orthogonal to the moving direction of the belt, and restraining members which restrain the movement of the projections. The image forming apparatus restrains the projections with the restraining members, thereby restraining the belt from deviating. The image forming apparatus has reinforcement members on the side of the belt opposite to that provided with the projections. The reinforcement members cover the entire projections.
