The invention relates to an item of furniture which is used to store and display products or objects. The inventive item comprises a plurality of stacked shelves (1) which are intended to receive the products or objects. Moreover, the two lateral faces (15) of each shelf are equipped with at least one set of two positioning studs (6, 7) which are inserted into grooves or holes (4, 5) that are provided in a structure. The aforementioned structure comprises at least four vertical or essentially-vertical pillars (2, 3) which are stabilised at the base thereof, namely two front pillars (2) and two rear pillars (3), each of said pillars having a plurality of shelf-fixing means (4, 5) which are designed to receive the above-mentioned shelf-positioning studs.
