<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce variation in optical output between light emitting devices by reducing variation in performance between light extraction augmenters. <P>SOLUTION: A light extraction augmenter 5 is provided on the light extraction surface of an LED chip 2 mounted in a groove 3 on a mounting substrate 1, and a sealing resin 4 is applied so that the sealing resin 4 is equivalent in height to the upper end of the wall of the groove 3, and that the top of the light extraction augmenter 5 is higher than the upper end of the wall of the groove 3. By using this constitution, the sealing resin 4 is made to be equivalent in height to the edge of the groove 3 without a precise control over the dropping of the sealing resin 4, and variation in performance between light extraction augmenters 5 is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
