<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device which can form an image with a resolution desired by a user. <P>SOLUTION: In this imaging device comprising an image carrier 1, an image writing device 3 for forming an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier 1 and a developing device 4 for developing the electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrier 1 using a developing agent, the image writing device 3 has an LED head 31 which can be replaced with a plurality of LED heads 31 with a differing resolution and a lighting control means 21 for controlling the lighting of the LED head 31.
