PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antivirus agent having infection preventive and therapeutic effects for virus diseases caused by human cytomegalovirus and the like. SOLUTION: The antivirus agent contains a hybrid polar compound, e.g., expressed by CH<SB>3</SB>-CO-NH-(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-NH-CO-CH<SB>3</SB>[wherein n expresses 2-8 integer], such as hexamethylene bisacetamide, heptamethylene bisacetamide, octamethylene bisacetamide, E-methylene bisacetamide or the like or its salt as an effective ingredient and, in addition, a pharmaceutically permissible agent or a support.
