FORCE TRANSMISSION ELEMENT IN THE MOTOR VEHICLE ENGINE COMPARTMENT
摘要
In order to increase the safety of passengers of a motor vehicle, in particular to reduce loads during the vehicle deceleration due to a collision, the engine compartment of the motor vehicle is provided with a supporting member (5) used as a force transmission element which removes at least the engine mass as early as possible from the path of the energy absorbing force in the case of a collision whose energy is greater than a predetermined limiting value. For this purpose, said supporting member (5) is generally U-shaped and provided with a closed end in front of the engine compartment and the U branches laterally surround the engine (3).
