<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catheter smoothly operated without reducing the force of a liquid jet flow, surely installed in an intended position, capable of performing liquid medication injection and a sensor insertion, and usable for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: This catheter is characterized in forming an optical fiber lumen R<SB>1</SB>and a guide wire lumen R<SB>2</SB>inside a tube 10, guiding an optical fiber 3 using a guide wire 12 inserted in the guide wire lumen R<SB>2</SB>, emitting laser beams from the optical fiber 3 to generate the liquid jet flow J in the liquid W filling the interior in the tube 10 for breaking the thrombus in the blood vessel.
