<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input method for inputting a tone with a simple operation without changing the configuration of an input means from a normal configuration, and to provide a character input device thereof. <P>SOLUTION: When a user operates an input part 21, the input of a character is requested. A storage part 24 stores the character requested to be inputted. When the character requested to be inputted is a vowel character, a control part 24 relates a tone to the vowel character requested to be inputted and allows it to be stored in addition to the vowel character. When the input part 21 continuously requests the input of the same vowel character, the control part 24 relates the vowel character to the initial tone with respect to the first request and stores them in the storage part 24.
