PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an image processing which efficiently selects a wanted image out of a plurality of images. SOLUTION: The image selection processing apparatus selects a part of motion picture as a still image based on a prescribed set condition. It comprises an image extractor which extracts a plurality of images out of the images constituting the motion picture, an action detector which detects an active part in the image for each extracted image, an order setter which evaluates the active part in the image which is detected based on the prescribed set condition and ranks each extracted images, and an outputting part for outputting the still images based on the ranking.
