PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain a pressure loss while realizing high boiler efficiency, and to uniformize a thermal load for a water tube, in a shell of a water tube boiler. SOLUTION: This boiler is provided with a first annular water tube row 4 constituted of a plurality of the first water tubes 3, 3, etc, and formed with a plurality of clearances 5, 5, etc, over a prescribed range between the adjacent first water tubes 3, a combustion chamber 9 formed inside the first water tube row 4, a wall member 11 provided outside the first water tube row 4, and a gas flow passage 14 formed of the first water tube row 4 and the wall member 11, and a plurality of protrusions 13, 13, etc, is provided toward the respective clearances 5 in the wall member 11.
