PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate a label attached to a predetermined area of a work and effectively recover only mounting paper. SOLUTION: This label separation device is configured so that: the work W in which the adherent label 20 is attached on a partial area of the mounting paper 10 is conveyed by making the opposite side of an end peripheral surface 11 of the mounting paper 10 where the label 20 starts to be separated serve as the end side 12 on a guiding side; then, while this work W is conveyed, first by allowing the end peripheral surface 11 to be bent by an end depressing member 125 toward the opposite side of the attaching face of the label 20, the end of the label 20 is separated from the mounting paper 10 and the end peripheral surface 11 of the mounting paper 10 is guided into a slit part 130; and, by allowing it to be progressively inserted further as the work W is conveyed, the entire label 20 is separated from the mounting paper 10. By this action, the label 20 attached on the partial area of the mounting paper 10 is smoothly separated with the progress of conveyance and only the mounting paper 10 can be recovered from under the slit part 130.
