PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the function parameter of a suction device, and to provide a control appliance for preventing an undesirable work condition before something happens without stopping the operation of the device. SOLUTION: The control appliance for a separator comprises a discharge pump 2 to which power is given by a first electric motor 6, a suction pump 8 to which power is given by a second electric motor 12, and known type sensor means 22-27 for detecting the operation parameters of the separator such as the pressure of fluid at an exit 4, ambient temperature and a motor temperature and for giving a command signal, proportional to the operation signal, to inverters 20 and 21, and these inverters 20 and 21 correct the frequency of supply current to the first electric motor 6 and the second electric motor 12 when they receive the command signal.
