PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which sufficiently improves cleaning performance while making the best use of an advantage of enhancing image quality by high-sphericity toner of polymerized toner when developing/transferring an image. SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus 10 provided with a latent image carrier 11 having a toner image formed thereon and a cleaning device 12 for removing toner left untransferred on the latent image carrier 11 after transfer of the toner image to a transfer material, a pressurizing and heating means capable of applying heat and pressure to the toner left untransferred is provided above the cleaning device 12 in the rotating direction of the latent image carrier 11.
