Disclosed is a device for screwing caps (V) onto containers (G), comprising several closing heads (2) which revolve around a closed track (K) and each of which is provided with a set of controllable gripping tongs (3). A control unit (4) which revolves along with the gripping tongs (3) is allocated to each set of gripping tongs for the open position and the closed position of the associated gripping tongs (3). The revolving control units (4) can be reversed between the open position and the closed position by means of stationary stops (5, 6), allowing the gripping tongs to be reversed quickly and with precision while making it simple to adjust the open and closed position without using a stationary radial cam.
