An outer covering (24) of a collecting vessel (10) delimits cross-sectional surfaces of the collecting vessel's interior so that the surface area of surfaces so delimited differs in size regarding first (52) and second (54) cross sections located with clearance between each other in the collecting vessel's longitudinal direction. An independent claim is also included for a heat exchanger, especially a refrigerant condenser, for a motor vehicle with a collecting vessel.
