The electric motor has a housing (4) containing a stator (3) and a rotor (6) arranged in the stator. The end of the rotor which is accessible from outside the housing does not extend or hardly extends out of the motor housing. In the rotor is provided a coupling (2) for coupling a device such as an x-ray emitter which is driven by the motor (1). Independent claims also cover an x-ray emitter with a cam shaft driven by such a motor.
