A fuel cell stack (1) comprises laminated polymer electrolyte fuel cells each with an anode and cathode (1B,1A) and power is generated using hydrogen-rich gas and air respectively supplied to the anode and cathode, while the exhausts are supplied by flow control valves (20,19) to a mixer (8) with a catalytic combustor (9). After activation, the controller (50) stops supply of air and fuel to an injector (15) to prevent increase of combustion gas and overheating of the catalyst. An independent claim is included for a control method for a fuel cell power plant. |
