Upright filled sacks (16) with upright closed lugs (15) pass through a sewing station. When passing through the station, the lug is held elastically flexible below a sewing line, by clamp parts, which pass below a sewing position. The clamp parts are located on two pivoted arms (18,19) with advance devices, and consist of a rail (26) on one arm, and two stops on the other arm. The rails and two side parts (20,21) of one arm are held by two fastener plates (22,23), which are connected in pairs via spring plates (24,25).
