<p>A ceramic honeycomb structure includes a plurality of through-holes (2) surrounded by partition walls (1). The thermal expansion coefficient of an outer circumferential wall portion (3) is larger than a thermal expansion coefficient in a direction of a diameter of an inside partition wall portion (5) and stress is applied to the inside partition wall portion from the outer circumferential wall portion. An outer circumferential wall portion of the honeycomb structure is thus reinforced, while the structure does not hinder flow of gas in its circumferential partition wall portion. Thermal shock resistance of the ceramic honeycomb structure is enhanced.</p> |
