A tubular carton which can be made from a single plastics coated blank and with end closures fastened by heat sealing has the corners adjacent an underlying closure flap arranged to be slightly crushed during closure to effect an efficient seal, this being achieved by effecting cuts 12c, 12d through part only of the blank thickness. This results in flaps 12b, 13b being in the same plane over much of their area, Fig. 3 (not shown). To facilitate opening, the overlying flap 11b (see also Fig. 6, not shown), is provided with a line of weakening 11c cut only part way through the blank, and a punch-out tab 13d is arranged in panel 13. To open the carton, tab 13d is torn free by pressing and lifted and the closure torn along the line 11c. The carton can be assembled from the blank by the machinery and method described in Specification 1,079,150.
