An episcope-type projection system includes a converging lens placed closely adjacent, and coextensive with, the object surface. As shown in Fig. 3, the object 12 which is in the form of a specularly reflecting surface bearing a light-scattering pattern is imaged at 18 by a shielded projection lens 17. Lens 19 receives divergent light from a relatively small condenser lens 11 (cf. Fig. 1) and in conjunction with the latter images the light source 16 in the projection lens 17. Otherwise, as in Fig. 1, lens 11 would have to produce convergent light and therefore have greater dimensions. The small size of condenser lens 11 allows of several independent projection systems being used simultaneously with the common object 12 and lens 19. |
