This invention provides an information recording and reproducing apparatus which is capable of recording audio data received, in a searchable state with respect to each music, with simple processing, in a recording medium in real time. The information recording and reproducing apparatus of the invention receives a data stream including, together with an audio stream, additional information of music which is now being transmitted by that audio stream. In the additional information, recorded is time information such as musical performance time of music and elapsed time. The information recording and reproducing apparatus records the received audio stream, sequentially in HDD, without change, and on the basis of the received additional information, reception ending time of music which is now being received in the audio stream, is calculated, and at such a time point that it became the calculated reception ending time, recording position information, which shows a recording position in HDD, of data of music which is now being received, is recorded in HDD, in association with additional information of the relevant music as a head position of music which will be received next. <IMAGE> |
