Composite pushrod

The push rod (1) for an internal combustion engine has a rod-form base component (2) with end pieces (3), and the pushrod is installed in or in the region of the engine's cylinder head to transmit force between a camshaft and a rocker lever. At least the base component of the pushrod is made of a material which has a heat expansion coefficient which is equal to or less than zero. The material is a matrix compound of high modular carbon fibers, whereby the E-modulus of the carbon fibers is greater than 400 gigapascals.
