The invention relates to a sound absorber suitable for an air-flow conduit (1), wherein zones of the sound-bearing conduit thereof are provided with orifices, whose length in flow direction and whose width are dimensioned according to a predetermined size. Based on a predetermined orifice area of the slit-like orifices, a ratio of the length (L) of the orifices to their width (W) is selected in dependency upon a specific frequency range of the sound emission to be attenuated. On the basis of a predetermined orifice area for the slit-like orifices, it is also possible to select predetermined positions for the slit-like orifices in dependency upon a specific frequency range of the sound emission, wherein said positions are located across the flow direction on the opposite ends of the air-flow conduit. <IMAGE>
