The cover for a flat surface, and especially a TV or VDU screen, is a flexible and self-adhesive mat (1), preferably with an embedded decorative image or pattern carrier (4) between two silicon layers (2,3). The edge (4') of the image carrier and the edge (1') of the mat are structured to give the appearance of a photo frame.
