A tube-forming machine for use with a plurality of webs 19 to 24 of paper or like material, comprises adhesive-applying devices 14 to 18 positioned one above the other and weakening devices 39 to 44 also positioned one above the other. The devices 39 to 44 produce weakening lines in the webs which enable tube sections to be separated from the tube being formed, the webs at the end of a tube section being staggered and glued together. The lengths of the individual webs between a collecting roller 25 and the adhesive-applying devices are substantially equal whereas the respective lengths of the individual webs between the collecting roller and the weakening devices differ from one another. In the construction disclosed the machine may be adjusted to produce different lengths of tube sections by changing the web length fed during one revolution of the weakening devices which include perforating knives. The difference between the longest and shortest web between the collecting roller and the weakening device is not greater than the difference between the shortest and longest of the tube sections for which the machine may be adjusted. |
