The seal (10), comprising a fixing sole (2) with an adhesive coating (3) and a tube (7) with a side (8) at approximately 90 degrees to the sole, has the sole and tube side forming a rigid assembly with no hinge or point of articulation, so that the side resists deformation when the tube is crushed. The tube side and sole can be of the same or different rigid materials, providing a rigidity of at least 40 Shore D, being made from a rubber compound comprising a crystalline elastomer, at least 30 per cent carbon black and at least 15 per cent of various plastic resins.
