Producing an active agent for combating facial expression lines comprises dissolving aniseed powder in an aqueous medium in an amount of at least 100 g/l, hydrolyzing the solution with one or more enzymes, inactivating the enzymes by thermal or chemical treatment, separating the soluble and insoluble phases by decantation, filtration of centrifugation, and concentrating the soluble phase. Independent claims are also included for: (1) active agent produced as above which contains carbohydrates, phenolic compounds and minerals and has a solids content of 10-120 g/l, an ash content of 15-25 %, a pH of 3-7 and a protein content of 3-36 g/l; (2) composition containing 0.1-20 % of the active agent in the form of a gel, water or oil emulsion, cream or lotion.
