The device has two half-clamps (5, 6) cooperating with each other to form a clamp around a junction between two pipe units (2, 3). The clamps include an attachment unit (10) to attach the clamp (6) on the clamp (5) at the back of a support by displacing the clamp (6) from upstream towards downstream. The attachment unit forms an articulation with respect to a main axis perpendicular to a longitudinal direction between the half-clamps. An independent claim is also included for a process for installing a locking device for the connection of pipe units.
