The present invention is related to novel of silymarin for the preparation of pharmaceutical composition to treat and prevent sepsis or inflammation mediated diseases in a mammal including human in need thereof. Silymarin showed potent inhibiting effect on NO (Nitric Oxide), TNF(Tumor Necrosis Factor)- alpha , Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta ) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), NF- kappa B and the activity of sepsis, therefore it can be useful in treating or preventing sepsis or inflammation mediated disease such as bronchitis, gastritis, colitis, arthritis, nephritis, hepatitis, cancer or generative diseases as a medicament or functional health food. |
